Qodana

Code Quality done right

Your team writes more code than it can review. Qodana checks every pull request before a person sees it, so reviewers spend their time on design and intent.

What is static code analysis?

Code review, before and after Qodana

Before Qodana

DSL.kt open on GitHub, lines 56 to 73, with the functions archived() and setPlatforms() and nothing marked
The file as a reviewer reads it on GitHub. Nothing shows that archived() and setPlatforms() are never called, so someone has to spot it, or it gets merged.

With Qodana

The Qodana report for the same file, flagging "Function archived is never used" on line 65, and "Function setPlatforms is never used" below it
Qodana's report on the same file at the same commit. Both functions are flagged as never used, with the line highlighted, before anyone reviews the change.

Real screenshots of DSL.kt from the open-source awesome-kotlin project, on GitHub and in its public Qodana Cloud report, at commit 3d5c67a.

Quick-fixes do the typing

Many of the problems Qodana finds come with a fix. Qodana can apply those fixes in CI and open a pull request with them, so the developer checks a diff instead of making each change by hand.

Quick-fixes are deterministic. The same problem always gets the identical fix, on every run and every branch, with no AI guesswork.

  • Fixes applied in CI, switched on with one line in qodana.yaml
  • Opened as a pull request, so nothing merges without review
  • The same fixes in the IDE, before you push

Quick-fixes are included in Qodana Ultimate and Ultimate Plus.

Migration support

  • Your current quality profiles mapped to Qodana inspections
  • Both tools on the same pipeline while your team compares results
  • Licensing timed to your SonarQube renewal
Talk to us about migration

Easy to start using

Simple to roll out or migrate

  • Add one Qodana step to the CI pipeline you already run
  • Configure it in a single qodana.yaml file in your repository
  • Set a baseline so existing issues don't block anyone on day one
  • Coming from another tool? Run both side by side until the results line up

Supported by Adeptask

  • Setup in your pipeline, on Qodana Cloud or self-hosted
  • Your current rules and quality gates mapped to Qodana inspections
  • A walkthrough of the first reports with your team
  • Ongoing support from a local team, 9am to 5pm AEST
How long is the typical migration?

Qodana FAQ

What is static code analysis?

Static code analysis checks source code without running it. A tool reads every file against a defined set of rules and reports problems such as bugs, duplicated code, dead code and broken conventions.

Because it doesn't depend on a reviewer's time or attention, it gives the same result on every change. Qodana runs it in your CI on every pull request, before a person reviews the code.

How long is the typical migration?

Configuring Qodana linter profiles, mapping equivalent rules, and integrating Qodana into your CI/CD pipelines typically takes a few days to a week, depending on the size of your codebase.

How much exactly does it cost?

Qodana is priced per active contributor, not on lines of code. Every plan analyses unlimited lines of code across unlimited projects.

Ultimate
US$5 per contributor per monthBilled annually, or US$6 a month billed monthly. JVM, Android, Python, .NET, C, C++, PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript and Go, with framework support, quick-fixes and code coverage. Minimum 3 contributors
Ultimate Plus
US$15 per contributor per monthBilled annually, or US$18 a month billed monthly. Everything in Ultimate, plus the insights dashboard, licence audits, security and taint analysis, and SSO. Minimum 3 contributors
Self-Hosted
Custom pricingEverything in Ultimate Plus, on your own infrastructure. Minimum 5 contributors

An active contributor is anyone who has pushed a commit to a Qodana Cloud project in the last 90 days, and one licence covers them across every project. We quote in Australian dollars, so email us for a quote for your team.
